Roshambo Winery

Roshambo Winery is the brainchild of Naomi Brilliant, a conceptual artist and granddaughter of renowned Sonoma County grape grower Frank Johnson. It was born of the simple idea that fine wine was too stuffy and needed to be slapped off its pedestal. Named after the West Coast slang for the ancient children’s game, “Rock, Paper, Scissors,” Roshambo is infused with a keen and playful sensibility. “Fighting for Fun in a Winey World” is our mantra and with our annual RPS Tournaments, Pirate Proms and revolving art openings, we try living up to their billing. It’s no surprise that with this strikingly original approach, Roshambo Winery has amassed an enthusiastic and loyal following. Roshambo has improved the quality of their wines by decreasing their production and focusing on the quality. This will inevidably lead to slightly higher prices, but still a great value. Monticello Vineyards/Corley Family Winery

“The first 35+ years have prepared us for the next generation as winegrowers in Napa Valley.” - Jay Corley, Founder

In 1969 Jay Corley, began searching for an appropriate site to grow wine grapes and quickly recognized that the best wines in the United States were made from grapes grown in the Napa Valley. Since his personal interest was in Burgundian-style wines, he chose to initially focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and therefore acquired land in what is now known as the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley in 1970. The Oak Knoll District is in southern Napa Valley, just north of the town of Napa, and with its cooler temperatures, the Oak Knoll District is ideal for growing these varietals.

Their over-riding philosophy is that great wines are made in the vineyards. This is why they have made such a tremendous commitment to ownership of the most suitable land for their grapes. Already satisfied with the strength and quality of their Oak Knoll estates for their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir they set out in pursuit of Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in the warmer districts of Napa Valley.

Today they farm five vineyards in the Napa Valley - their Home Ranch Vineyard and Knollwood Vineyard in the Oak Knoll District planted to Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah vines and their State Lane Vineyard in Yountville, Tietjen Vineyard on Niebaum Lane in Rutherford and Ehlers Lane Vineyard in St. Helena each planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. We will be welcoming Montecillo/Corley Family winery on March 28th for a tasting with all their awesome wines. There will be very special pricing available that night only on all of their wines, which the winery has asked me not to publish. Please Inquire for a members only price sheet.
